Looking at this gallery you would never guess these siblings fell asleep on the way to their Mini Session. Their mom was worried, but these two ended up having an amazing session. Here are a few of my favorites of Christian and Bree…

The weather turned out perfect for everyone who signed up for the Spring Mini Session special. The entire week was an emotional roller coaster as I watched the chance of rain go from 80% chance to 10% chance to 100% chance of rain! For the first time ever I also had to worry about smoke filled air from the wild fires in Canada.  Luckily everything worked out.  The rain was finished and the smoke had settled by my first session. Coach and his family were my first clients for the day. I just love the series of images of Coach trying to get in position for a family photo!  Stay tuned for more mini session previews to be posted throughout this week!

12 day old Myles came to visit me last week. He was my first session in my new natural light studio! Myles was a sweet little peanut and I enjoyed spending the afternoon with him. After we captured some keepsakes of him, we added his mama and sisters into some shots. The love this family has for their new little guy is just precious! His sisters were beaming with pride of their new baby brother. Here are some of my favorites from his session…

I met my sister and her little family at Water Works Park in Des Moines to capture their first family photos with their new addition.  Water Works Park is one of my favorite places to shoot, especially in the Spring.  The flowering crab apples are so beautiful!  Despite it being cold, wet, cloudy, almost blossom-less, we still captured some beautiful images.

This family had a full session on a beautiful fall evening.  As a photographer I am always on the hunt for locations for my sessions, and this family is lucky enough to have the perfect location in their very own backyard.  I prefer to do my on-location shoots an hour or two before sunset.  This time-frame is referred to as the “golden hour”, because the lighting during this time is soft, warm, and magical!  If I am lucky the golden hour ends with a gorgeous sunset, leaving me no choice but to end the session capturing my favorite sunset silhouettes.
